Chessie's do not like to be ordered around. You can get much further with them by negotiation.
People say they are stubborn but I would say they are more determined. Sometimes some "sweet talk" with negotiation helps.
Once gaining their attention they learn very quickly and will never forget what they have learned.
Although they are big, strong dogs they are sensitive. If they are being corrected and you come down hard on them their feelings will cause them to shut-down.
They love their owners and will try to please them.
These dogs are "happy" dogs. Most Chessie's will give you their chessie smile when they are happy and contented.
Be ready to live with a "velcro" dog. The Chessie will make you theirs.
